New Alexa Toolbar for Firefox
The Alexa ranking for any site is generally felt to be inaccurate. It was only available for Internet Explorer and only measured the number of Alexa users using IE visiting a site.
I do not know why so many online advertisers, like PayPerPost and Text Link Ads, depend on an Alexa ranking to determine a site’s advertising price or qualifications for an opportunity because it is so inaccurate. But they do and until there is a realization of how useless the ranking really is, there is nothing that we can do about it.
With that said, Alexa has released a toolbar that is compatible with the Firefox web browser. While this plugin will not make the ranking any more accurate (afterall, it still only measures Alexa users and not *all* users), it will help everyone’s Alexa ranking a little bit.
For some reason, it would freeze Firefox on one of my computers. I thought it may have interefered with another plug in. After disabelling those plug ins and only having the new toolbar running, it still froze the browser. I installed it on another computer and had no issues. This 2nd computer also had the exact same plugins running. I have no idea what was causing the freeze on computer #1.
It sits in the lower right corner of the browser window. It is very unobtrusive and does not take up any additional real estate on overall browser window.
If you are a Firefox user, you may want to give this a try. It won’t hurt anything, but it would help tambulounge.com and other sites that you visit.
