Today, August 1st, the new movie “Superbad” is taking over YouTube.

Judd Apatow, who brought us Freaks and Geeks 8 years ago and more recently The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up, is now bringing us Superbad. The story centers around two high school seniors who have social issues – mainly, they are dorks (common theme with Apatow). They are best friends, but are facing the dilemma all of us do at that time- the fear of going off to college without your bud. Superbad chronicles one of their last nights together as they attempt to woe some ladies.

YouTube is featuring 5 clips from the film which comes out on August 17.

The official web site, AreYouSuperbad.com, has a ton of downloadable content. Your standard wallpapers, a screensaver and buddy icons for your instant messaging are all available. There are also 8 ringtones available for download featuring quotes from the movie. These ringtones are free if you use Sprint as your cellular provider.

A Superbad widget can be added to your social networking site. This widget plays the movie trailer, clips from the film, and allows your visitors to download some of the content that is available on the main site.

If you poke around the site a bit, you will find a “Restricted Area”. This area contains even more downloadable content and quite a few interactive areas.

Superbad hits theaters on August 17, but will be all over YouTube on August 1.
