“Revenge of the Mummy” Record Holder

Florida resident, Joe Douglas, has announced that he holds the record for the greatest number of rides in a single day on the Revenge of the Mummy coaster at Universal Studios, Florida.

He says that his record is 101 rides and he can document them all. Evidently the stars were in alignment for Joe (and crowds were light and he used the single rider line and he has an understanding wife). Here’s to you, Joe.

I’ve ridden the dark ride/coaster hybrid and I wasn’t that impressed. The coaster aspect isn’t all that coasterish. The dark ride aspect could be great, but you are rushed through all of the scenes. There was a lot of hype about a backwards portion… which lasts about as long as it takes me to lean back in my recliner and then lean it back up again.

Typical Universal that they just about get it, and then foul it up in some way.

But that’s just me. Joe is proud of his record and I’m proud of ol’ Joe.

  1. I Really appreciate your comments. And i agree the backwards part could use some modifications . but hey i got 2 free shirts out of the whole deal and now the entire crew including the attraction manager himself now even knows me by name cool huh?

    joe

  2. It is an impressive feat. Seriously. I’ve been involved with filmings on various thrill rides before, including coasters. After several trips it starts to take a toll on you. 101 trips, even on a milder coaster, can’t be easy. You should be proud of that.

It is an equally impressive feat to get anything free from Universal.

I don’t mean to dog on those parks, but every time I’ve been there I’ve had at least one bad experience… and it usually starts off in the parking garage.

  3. As of Dec 7th I will make a new record attempt. I plan to take it all the way up to 120 or greater. and with a few fast passes and a little luck i can do it

  4. the 101 ride record is now history. I just set a new ride record on the revenge of the mummy just today 132 in a row in one day Who knew i could top 101 but the wait time on the line was 5 min all day
